Matthew Kong

Matthew joined Global Switch as Managing Director, Singapore in 2021 with around 20 years of experience in Engineering and Project Management as well as Sales and General management roles.

Career

Prior to joining Global Switch Matthew was Regional Sales Director – Asia-Pacific at Starline (a leading power distribution equipment provider) where he led the Sales team. Before this, Matthew was Country Manager (Singapore) for Emerson Network Power, which during his time there rebranded to Vertiv, a Fortune 500 company and global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions. Over a ten year period he successfully transformed and grew the Singapore business, building an impressive network of clients and relationships with data centre operators and hyperscalers. Previous to this, Matthew held roles both at ST Electronics, Chung Hing Engineers and PM-B Ptd Ltd.

Matthew holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Business Management from University of Bradford in the UK. He also holds a diploma in Management Studies from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. To support his technical background, Matthew also completed his Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering from Wong Haking Technical College in Hong Kong and holds various accredited Engineering certificates.

Responsibilities at Global Switch

Matthew is responsible for managing both of Global Switch’s data centres in Singapore. Global Switch Tai Seng is one of Asia-Pacific’s best-connected buildings and the only data centre in the region with direct access to multiple major international sub-sea cable systems.

Global Switch's second data centre, Singapore Woodlands is located to the north of the island. The 25,000 sq m data centre provides multiple connectivity options to Tai Seng’s dense ecosystem, is LEED Gold certified and has an independently verified PUE of 1.34.
